About Department


The Panchakarma Therapy is unique treatment of ayurveda to maintain the health and harmony of body and mind. All panchakarmas are done with standard operating procedures in the college hospital.



The subject of panchakarma is in the curriculum of BAMS Under graduation (Fourth year) as well as Post graduation. This subject enlighten the students with the knowledge of fivefold biopurificatory methods of Ayurveda and othe minor procedures to maintain the health and cure the diseases.

Panchakarma is a special branch of Ayurveda which we can say as "Super Specialization" in Ayurveda. Panchakarma are special procedures which distinguish Ayurveda from other alternative medicines & allopathic medicine.

Study of different massages, fomentation techniques, therapeutic vomiting, purgation, medicated enema, blood letting, oil shower on head (Shirodhara) are the different topics covered in this subjects. Purification of the body is an ideal way to remove the causative factors of diseases from the body. This can give permanent cure from some chronic diseases or at least avoid frequent exacerbations.

Department of Panchakarma of hospital has well equipped OPD, IPD & Panchakarma Unit. All type of skilled panchakarma procedures are done here. Well furnished spacious wards are established for treatment. Separate male and female wards along with changing and resting rooms are available.

We have excellent infrastructure setup in college department with museum, staffroom, models, charts, departmental library, which provide the opportunity to students to learn more and more. Staff of the department is highly qualified and approved by University. They have good experience in teaching and clinical practice. The department runs various academic and research activities for the students to ensure better knowledge gained by students.

Objectives -

  • To educate the students with fivefold biopurificatory methods of Ayurveda and other minor procedure.
  • Orientation of students in theory as well as practical demonstration to student.
  • To conduct research projects through UG students to find out efficient treatments for the diseases.

Course Outcomes: UG

  • Describe basic concepts, standard operative procedures of Panchakarma and their importance in preventing complications.
  • Perform seasonal Panchakarma procedures as preventive or curative measure in various diseases.
  • Diagnose diseases, decide appropriate Panchkarma procedure, prepare and administer medications accordingly.
  • Manage complications of Panchkarma in practice.
  • Implement appropriate Physiotherapy treatment modalities in various diseases.
